Iron is very important for your body as your body uses iron in order to make haemoglobin. It is a protein in the RBC that helps in transporting oxygen to your tissues. No doubt iron is very much needed for everyone but during pregnancy, you need double the amount of iron. Your body needs iron in order to make more blood and ensure the supply of oxygen to your baby.
